BBC’s Hairy Bikers visit to Farm Urban
“I cannot think of anywhere I have been that has given me more hope for the future than that place “ Si King
-
We were honoured to have Si King and the late Dave Myers visit Farm Urban’s HQ to explore how innovative, community-embedded food production can support healthier, more sustainable diets. During their visit, they met the team, toured the farm and learned how hyper-local growing, education and community partnerships are helping reconnect people with fresh food in the heart of the city.
ITVx’s Lauren Ostridge visit to Farm Urban
-
We were delighted to welcome Lauren Ostridge from ITV News to Farm Urban to explore the urgent need for equitable access to healthy food. During her visit, co-founder Paul spoke about the broken food aid model and the stark paradox it creates; where malnutrition and obesity coexist, driven by diets high in processed foods, sugar and fats, but low in fibre and real nutritional value. The conversation also highlighted the importance of education programmes in rebuilding food knowledge and long-term health.
TEDx Talks ahead of their time & female Innovators leading the way.
A film highlighting the power of female leadership and grassroots community action in urban food.
-
Abby and Jayne were selected as two of only ten global female leaders innovating in sustainability and conservation by Niki Eslami’s Wild Elements Foundation, recognising Farm Urban’s pioneering female leadership and community approach to urban food systems. The programme provided international exposure and included the production of a short film capturing Farm Urban’s work and values, going on to win Best Short Film at the 2021 Jackson Wild Awards. The recognition helped amplify Farm Urban’s mission on a global stage and contributed to securing a £100,000 grant, accelerating the organisation’s ability to grow impact, partnerships and delivery across the UK.
Where It All Began: The core ideas that went on to shape Farm Urban’s work over the next decade
-
In his 2016 TEDx talk, Paul set out the core ideas that would go on to shape Farm Urban’s work over the next decade, examining the deep-rooted failures of the food system and the links between environment, nutrition and long-term health, informed by his doctoral research in epigenetics. Those early insights have since guided Farm Urban’s approach in practice, underpinning ten years of work embedding urban farming systems into everyday settings, partnering with communities, hospitals and public institutions to test, learn and deliver real-world solutions to healthier, more resilient and more equitable food systems
